| MEMORIAL LECTURES |

The annual Zakir Husain Memorial lectures, instituted nearly 20 years ago, are evidence of the college's commitment towards creating an informed intellectual environment within and outside the college. This series commemorates the contribution of Honorable Dr. Zakir Husain to knowledge building. Distinguished scholars, activists and educationists are invited each year to speak on issues of contemporary relevance. The first volume of the collection of these lectures has recently been published by Tulika ( New Delhi ). In February 2008, the latest lecture in the series was delivered by the great poet Intizar Husain. Last year saw the institution of yet another series of lectures, the Delhi College Lecture Series. The endeavour is to recreate and carry forward the legacy of the Delhi Renaissance and the progress made thereof in science, literature and positive interventions in the field of education. The first lecture in this series was delivered by the eminent scientist Professor Jayant Narlikar in February 2007. In 2008 the eminent German Scholar Dr. Margrit Pernau delivered an illuminating talk on, “Was there a Delhi Renaissance”. |

| CONVOCATION |
|||
It is the only college of Delhi University which has started holding a full dress convocation from the last academic session. The Convocation is an attempt on the part of the institution to strength the bonds between the college and its alumni. In the first convocation Dr. Karan Singh, the eminent scholar was kind enough to formally hand over the degrees to students who had graduated in the academic session 2005-06. |
