This college has always provided students an active platform to excel in cultural activities, considered as much a part of personality development as academic pursuits. The Arts and Culture Society has constantly offered opportunities to hone the talent of budding singers, actors, dancers and playwrights. The Ecological Society plays its role in sensitizing the students and faculty about environmental issues and its positive contribution can be seen all over the college premises.

The Debating Society is active in different languages and seminars are conducted by all departments of the college as an attempt to keep the students connected with the social, political, and cultural reality of their country.

Zakir Husain College is proud of its enthusiastic NCC component, another active organization that has been winning accolades for the college in various camps held all over the country. Four cadets from our college were privileged to participate in the Republic Day camp and two were given the honor of presenting the guard of honour to the Vice President and the Prime Minister.

Literature has been a great passion with the students of Zakir Husain College . The college has an English Literary Society, a Bengali Literary Society, a Hindi Sahitya Sabha, a Bazm-e-Adab for Urdu, as also a Society for Persian and Arabic. It also brings out a number of magazines each year, the Rambler, Rashmi, the Zakir Husain College Patrika, Fikr-e-Nau and Spectrum, all by different departments and each with an individual voice.

Sports too are very much an integral feature of the college. As early as 1935, the football team of the college had won the University tournament and since then the college continues to win, year after year, several such awards.

The Zakir Husain Memorial Football Tournament is an important event in the college calendar. The college is a regular participant in cricket, basketball, volleyball, chess, judo, table tennis, boxing and various athletic competitions and meets.

Acknowledging its responsibility towards the underprivileged section of the society, the NSS unit of the college organizes various projects and programmes. The volunteers make valuable contribution in these projects. Two of its ongoing projects are Campus Cleaning and Reading for Blind.
